This study investigates the influence of learning styles and thinking styles on Self – Regulated Learning (SRL) among high school students. SRL is a crucial ability that allows learners to plan, monitor, and evaluate their cognition, motivation, and behaviour to achieve academic goals. The research employed a quantitative method with multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS version 20 on 315 students from Perguruan Panca Budi Medan, selected through proportional stratified sampling. The regression model was statistically significant (F = 4079.49, p < 0.001). Learning styles contributed strongly to SRL, explaining 84.8% of its variance (β = 0.848, p < 0.0001), while thinking styles accounted for only 13.5% and did not show a significant effect (β = 0.135, p = 0.103). Together, both variables explained 34.6% of the total variance in SRL, indicating that other factors also play a role in shaping students’ self – regulation. These results highlight the dominant role of learning styles in fostering SRL, whereas thinking styles alone are not sufficient predictors. The study emphasizes the importance of adaptive teaching strategies that accommodate students’ learning preferences to strengthen autonomy, motivation, and engagement. |
