dc.description.abstractFenomena Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) menjadi salah satu faktor yang mendorong perilaku konsumtif di kalangan mahasiswa, khususnya dalam penggunaan produk teknologi seperti iPhone. Seringkali, mahasiswa membeli sebuah produk bukan hanya karena kebutuhan, tetapi demi mendapatkan pengakuan sosial dan mengikuti tren. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) terhadap perilaku konsumtif dalam penggunaan iPhone pada mahasiswa Psikologi Universitas Medan Area. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 33 mahasiswa dari kelas C yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling dimana data dikumpulkan menggunakan skala Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) dan skala Perilaku Konsumtif yang disusun berdasarkan model Skala Likert. Analisis data dilakukan dengan regresi linier sederhana dan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh positif dan signifikan antara FoMO dan perilaku konsumtif, dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (< 0,05) dan koefisien determinasi (R²) sebesar 0,366 artinya, FoMO memberikan kontribusi sebesar 36,6% terhadap perilaku konsumtif mahasiswa. The phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) is one of the factors that drives consumptive behavior among students, especially in the use of technological products such as the iPhone. Often, students buy a product not only because of necessity but to gain social recognition and follow trends. This research aims to find out the effect of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) on consumptive behavior in the use of iPhones among Psychology students at the University of Medan Area. The approach that was used in this research was a quantitative approach. The sample in this research consisted of 33 students from class C who were selected through purposive sampling technique, where data were collected using the Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) scale and the Consumptive Behavior scale which were arranged based on the Likert Scale model. Data analysis was conducted using simple linear regression and the results of the research showed that there was a positive and significant effect between FoMO and consumptive behavior, with a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) and a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.366, which means FoMO contributed 36.6% to students’ consumptive behavior.en_US
