| dc.description.abstract | Penggunaan ChatGPT sebagai alat bantu akademik semakin populer di kalangan mahasiswa seiring berkembangnya teknologi kecerdasan buatan. Mahasiswa kerap memanfaatkan ChatGPT untuk mengerjakan tugas perkuliahan, meskipun masih terdapat pro dan kontra dalam penggunaannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengalaman mahasiswa dalam menggunakan ChatGPT dalam mengerjakan tugas akademik di Fakultas Teknik Universitas Negeri Medan. Dengan pendekatan fenomenologi Alfred Schutz, penelitian ini menggali pengalaman penggunaan, motif penggunaan, serta hambatan yang dihadapi mahasiswa saat memanfaatkan teknologi kecerdasan buatan ini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam terhadap tujuh mahasiswa dari Program Studi Teknik Elektro. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas mahasiswa mengenal ChatGPT melalui media sosial, teman, serta rekomendasi dosen. Pengalaman penggunaan ChatGPT dalam kegiatan akademik meliputi kemudahan dalam mencari referensi, menyusun tugas, serta memahami konsep yang sulit. Namun, terdapat beberapa hambatan seperti keterbatasan akurasi informasi, ketergantungan terhadap teknologi, serta keterbatasan akses pada versi gratis. Penelitian ini memberikan wawasan baru mengenai peran teknologi kecerdasan buatan dalam dunia akademik, sekaligus menyoroti pentingnya pemanfaatan yang bijak agar tetap mendukung pengembangan berpikir kritis dan kreativitas mahasiswa. The use of ChatGPT as an academic support tool is becoming increasingly popular among university students in line with the advancement of artificial intelligence technology. Students often utilize ChatGPT to complete academic assignments, although its use remains a topic of debate. This study aims to explore students' experiences in using ChatGPT for academic tasks in the Faculty of Engineering at Universitas Negeri Medan. Employing Alfred Schutz’s phenomenological approach, the research investigates usage experiences, motives for use, and the obstacles students face when utilizing this AI technology. This qualitative research collected data through in-depth interviews with seven students from the Electrical Engineering Study Program. The findings indicate that most students learned about ChatGPT through social media, friends, and recommendations from lecturers. Their experiences using ChatGPT for academic purposes include ease in finding references, organizing assignments, and understanding complex concepts. However, challenges such as limited information accuracy, dependency on technology, and restricted access to the free version were also identified. This study offers new insights into the role of artificial intelligence in the academic world, while also emphasizing the importance of wise usage to support the development of critical thinking and student creativity. | en_US |
