The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between self-efficacy and students' learning independence in mathematics among 7th-grade students at SMP Al-Washliyah Ampera II Medan. The population in this study consists of 120 students. The sampling technique used in this research is total sampling. Based on the results of data analysis, the hypothesis was accepted, indicating that there is a positive relationship between self-efficacy and students' learning independence in mathematics among 7th grade students at SMP Al-Washliyah Ampera II Medan. This is evidenced by the linearity coefficient value, where r_xy = 0.649 with a linearity p-value > 0.05, which means there is a relationship between self-efficacy and students’ learning independence in mathematics. Similarly, the coefficient of determination (r²) is 0.421, which is equivalent to 42.1%. This means that self-efficacy contributes approximately 42.1% to students' learning independence in mathematics among 7th-grade students at SMP Al-Washliyah Ampera II Medan. Based on the results of the empirical and hypothetical mean calculations, it was found that the learning independence variable has a hypothetical mean of 50, an empirical mean of 42.87, and a standard deviation of 5.245. Meanwhile, the self-efficacy variable has a hypothetical mean of 50, an empirical mean of 41.85, and a standard deviation of 5.846. These results indicate that both self-efficacy and learning independence are categorized as low.
