Abstract: Dalam dunia pendidikan, kualitas kinerja guru menjadi salah satu faktor penentu keberhasilan pembelajaran. Namun, kinerja guru tidak hanya dipengaruhi oleh kemampuan akademik, melainkan juga oleh aspek psikologis seperti kecerdasan emosional. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara kecerdasan emosional dengan kinerja guru di SMP Negeri 3 Tanjung Morawa. Populasi penelitian terdiri dari 45 guru, dan teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah total sampling, di mana seluruh populasi dijadikan sampel. Data diperoleh melalui skala Likert yang mencakup dua alat ukur, yaitu skala kecerdasan emosional berdasarkan aspek-aspek menurut Goleman (1995) dan skala kinerja guru berdasarkan aspek-aspek menurut Darmadi (2018). Hasil analisis dengan uji korelasi Pearson product moment menunjukkan adanya hubungan positif antara kecerdasan emosional dan kinerja guru, dengan koefisien korelasi rxy=0.605 dan nilai P (Sig.) = 0.000 (P < 0.05), yang menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis penelitian ini diterima. Kontribusi efektif kecerdasan emosional terhadap kinerja guru tercatat sebesar 36,6 % sedangkan 63,4 % dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain, seperti pengalaman mengajar, pelatihan professional, serta dukungan dari rekan sejawat dan pihak sekolah juga memiliki peran penting dalam meningkatkan kinerja guru. Baik kecerdasan emosional maupun kinerja guru di SMP Negeri 3 Tanjung Morawa tergolong rendah, dengan nilai mean empirik kecerdasan emosional sebesar 35.29 dan kinerja guru sebesar 49.42. In the world of education, the quality of teacher performance is one of the determining factors for the success of learning. However, teacher performance is not only influenced by academic ability, but also by psychological aspects such as emotional intelligence. This study aims to determine the correlation between emotional intelligence and teacher performance at SMP Negeri 3 Tanjung Morawa. The study population consists of 45 teachers, and the sampling technique used is total sampling, where the entire population is treated as the sample. Data were collected using a Likert scale that includes two measurement tools, namely the emotional intelligence scale based on aspects according to Goleman (1995) and the teacher performance scale based on aspects according to Darmadi (2018). The analysis using Pearson product-moment correlation test showed a positive correlation between emotional intelligence and teacher performance, with a correlation coefficient of rxy = 0.605 and a P-value (Sig.) = 0.000 (P < 0.05), indicating that the hypothesis of this study is accepted. The effective contribution of emotional intelligence to teacher performance was recorded at 36,6 %, while 63,4% is influenced by other factors, such as teaching experience, professional training, and support from colleagues and the school also has an important role in improving teacher performance. Both emotional intelligence and teacher performance at SMP Negeri 3 Tanjung Morawa are classified as low, with an empirical mean value of emotional intelligence of 35,29 and teacher performance of 49,42.
