This study aimed to examine the mediating role of self-compassion in the relationship between family support and students’ emotional intelligence. A quantitative approach was employed, involving a population of 389 students, all of whom were included as participants using total sampling. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM) to test both direct and indirect effects among variables. The results indicated that family support had a positive and significant effect on emotional intelligence (β = 0.62; p < 0.001) and self-compassion (β = 1.13; p < 0.001). Furthermore, self compassion was found to have a significant positive effect on emotional intelligence (β = 0.36; p < 0.001). Mediation analysis revealed that family support also exerted an indirect effect on emotional intelligence through self-compassion (β = 0.22; p < 0.001), confirming self-compassion’s role as a mediator that strengthens this relationship. These findings highlight the importance of family support and the development of self-compassion in enhancing students’ ability to recognize, manage, and express their emotions effectively. |
