This study aims to determine the stress coping strategies used by teachers at SMK Negeri 2 Medan. The focus of this study is based on Emotion Focused Coping, which consists of five aspects: self-control, distancing, positive reappraisal, accepting responsibility, and escape/avoidance. The study population was 150 teachers, with a purposive sampling technique based on the characteristics of teachers experiencing stress, resulting in 52 teachers as research samples. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed descriptively. The results of the validity test showed that 30 items were declared valid (Corrected Item-Total Correlation > 0.300. The reliability test produced a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.889, which means the research instrument is very reliable. The results of the study showed that the most dominant stress coping strategy used by teachers was the distancing aspect with a contribution of 87.50%, followed by escape/avoidance 77.90%, self-control 76.10%, positive reappraisal 59.00%, and accepting responsibility 58.50%. This shows that teachers tend to use avoidance coping strategies, compared to more constructive and positive strategies in dealing with stress. | en_US |
