| Abstract: | Analisis Kekuatan Lentur Hasil Pengelasan SMAW pada Proses Tailor Welded Blank (TWB) Menggunakan Bahan Logam yang Berbeda Kandungan Karbon. Disimpulkan bahwa kandungan karbon tinggi meningkatkan kekuatan lentur sambungan, sedangkan pengelasan material berbeda menghasilkan kekuatan cukup baik meski zona las kurang homogen. Flexural Strength Analysis of SMAW Welding on Tailor Welded Blank (TWB) Using Different Carbon Content Metals. This study is motivated by the importance of SMAW welding in the automotive and construction industries, particularly in the Tailor Welded Blank (TWB) process which joins metals with different carbon contents. The main problem examined is how the difference in carbon content affects the flexural strength of SMAW welds. The objective of this research is to prepare test specimens, conduct static bending tests according to ASTM E290 standards, and analyze the strength variations of welded joints based on different materials. The research method was experimental using ST-37 and AISI 1050 steel plates. Specimens were fabricated through cutting, SMAW welding at 90 A current, and bending tests using a Universal Testing Machine. Data analysis was carried out by calculating the maximum flexural stress based on the three-point bending formula. The theoretical basis includes the principles of SMAW welding, TWB characteristics, and the influence of carbon content on the mechanical properties of metals. The results showed that AISI 1050–AISI 1050 specimens had the highest flexural stress (894.00 MPa), followed by ST-37–AISI 1050 (876.66 MPa), while ST-37–ST- 37 specimens had the lowest value (853.78 MPa). It can be concluded that higher carbon content increases flexural strength, while welding dissimilar carbon steels provides sufficient strength despite less homogeneous heat- affected zones. |
