This study aims to examine the influence of the diffusion of disaster message innovation on children's understanding and preparedness in facing disasters in Gung Pinto Village, Naman Teran Subdistrict, Karo Regency. It also evaluates the implementation of the Disaster-Resilient Village (Destana) program, particularly the extent to which children as a vulnerable group are involved in disaster education. This research uses a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to 75 elementary school students. The study is based on Everett M. Rogers’ Diffusion of Innovation theory, with indicators including relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialability, and observability. The results show that the diffusion of disaster message innovation has a significant influence on children's disaster preparedness. In addition, document analysis reveals that Gung Pinto Village has implemented the Destana program fairly well, although child-specific disaster education still needs improvement. Therefore, more inclusive and child-friendly disaster communication strategies are essential in the future development of Destana programs.en_US
