| dc.description.abstract | Pengelasan merupakan salah satu metode penyambungan logam yang banyak digunakan dalam industri manufaktur. Salah satu teknik yang umum diterapkan adalah Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), yang memiliki keunggulan dari sisi kemudahan, fleksibilitas, dan biaya. Pada perkembangan teknologi manufaktur, metode pengelasan ini banyak dimanfaatkan dalam proses Tailor Welded Blank (TWB), yaitu penyambungan dua atau lebih pelat logam dengan perbedaan ketebalan atau sifat material. TWB banyak diaplikasikan dalam industri otomotif dan konstruksi karena dapat meningkatkan efisiensi material, mengurangi berat komponen, serta menjaga kekuatan struktural. Namun, perbedaan ketebalan material sering menimbulkan variasi pada kualitas sambungan, khususnya kekuatan tarik, sehingga perlu dilakukan analisis secara sistematis.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh perbedaan ketebalan logam terhadap kekuatan tarik hasil pengelasan SMAW pada sambungan TWB. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pembuatan spesimen dari baja karbon ST-37 dengan variasi ketebalan berbeda, kemudian dilakukan proses pengelasan menggunakan elektroda E6013 serta pengujian tarik statis sesuai standar pengujian material. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis untuk mengetahui kualitas sambungan dan perbedaan sifat mekanik akibat variasi ketebalan.Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan teknik pengelasan TWB yang lebih efektif dan efisien, serta menjadi referensi bagi industri dalam menentukan kombinasi ketebalan material dan metode pengelasan yang tepat untuk menghasilkan sambungan yang kuat dan andal. Welding is one of the most widely used methods for joining metals in manufacturing industries. One common technique is Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), which offers advantages in terms of simplicity, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness. In modern manufacturing, SMAW is frequently applied in the Tailor Welded Blank (TWB) process, where two or more metal sheets with different thicknesses or material properties are joined. TWB has been widely adopted in the automotive and construction industries because it improves material efficiency, reduces component weight, and maintains structural strength. However, differences in material thickness often affect weld quality, particularly tensile strength, which requires systematic analysis.The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of thickness variation on the tensile strength of SMAW joints in TWB applications. The methodology includes the preparation of specimens from ST-37 carbon steel with different thickness variations, welding using E6013 electrodes, and static tensile testing based on standardized procedures. The collected data are then analyzed to evaluate the weld quality and the mechanical property differences caused by thickness variations.This research is expected to contribute to the development of more effective and efficient welding techniques for TWB, and to serve as a reference for industries in selecting appropriate material thickness combinations and welding methods to achieve strong and reliable joints. | en_US |
