| dc.description.abstract | Terminal merupakan salah satu simpul transportasi darat yang berperan penting dalam menunjang mobilitas masyarakat, khususnya di kota-kota yang berkembang pesat seperti Kota Binjai. Namun, kondisi Terminal Bus Tipe B di Kota Binjai saat ini dinilai belum optimal dari segi fungsi, kenyamanan, maupun keterkaitannya dengan moda transportasi lainnya. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan perancangan ulang (redesain) terhadap terminal ini dengan pendekatan Arsitektur Kontekstual, guna menciptakan bangunan yang tidak hanya fungsional tetapi juga selaras dengan karakter dan potensi lingkungan sekitar. Salah satu potensi penting pada tapak perancangan adalah keberadaan Stasiun Kereta Api Binjai yang berada tepat di sebelah terminal. Meskipun integrasi fisik antar bangunan tidak dapat direalisasikan karena status stasiun sebagai bangunan cagar budaya, rancangan tetap mengakomodasi aspek konektivitas melalui pendekatan integrasi nonstruktural. Hal ini diwujudkan dengan menghadirkan jalur pedestrian yang nyaman dan mudah diakses sebagai penghubung antara dua moda transportasi tersebut. Pendekatan Arsitektur Kontekstual digunakan untuk memastikan desain terminal selaras dengan karakter kawasan, baik secara visual, budaya, maupun fungsional. Proses perancangan dimulai dari analisis tapak dan lingkungan, identifikasi permasalahan eksisting, penetapan konsep desain, hingga ke tahap pengembangan rancangan arsitektural. Hasil desain diharapkan mampu menjawab kebutuhan pengguna, meningkatkan kualitas layanan terminal, serta memperkuat konektivitas kawasan transportasi publik di Kota Binjai secara keseluruhan. Terminals are one of the key nodes in land transportation that play a significant role in supporting public mobility, particularly in rapidly developing cities such as Binjai. However, the current condition of the Type B Bus Terminal in Binjai is considered suboptimal in terms of function, comfort, and integration with other modes of transportation. Therefore, a redesign of the terminal is proposed using a Contextual Architecture approach to create a building that is not only functional but also harmonizes with the surrounding character and environmental potential. One of the key potentials of the project site is the presence of the Binjai Railway Station, located adjacent to the terminal. Although physical integration between the two buildings cannot be realized due to the station's status as a cultural heritage site, the design still accommodates connectivity through a non-structural integration approach. This is implemented by providing a pedestrian pathway that is accessible and comfortable, serving as a link between the two modes of transportation. The Contextual Architecture approach is employed to ensure that the terminal design aligns with the area's character—visually, culturally, and functionally. The design process begins with site and environmental analysis, identification of existing problems, determination of design concepts, and continues to the development of architectural solutions. The final design is expected to meet user needs, improve the quality of terminal services, and strengthen connectivity within the public transportation network of Binjai City. | en_US |
