| Abstract: | Karet alam merupakan komoditas tradisional sekaligus komoditas ekspor yang berperan penting sebagai penghasil devisa dari sub-sektor perkebunan, dan menjadi tumpuan pencaharian bagi banyak keluarga petani. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji potensi pemanfaatan limbah buah nanas (Ananas comosus) dan belimbing wuluh (Averrhoa bilimbi) sebagai bahan koagulan alami dalam proses koagulasi lateks karet (Hevea brasiliensis). Koagulasi merupakan tahap penting dalam pengolahan lateks untuk menghasilkan bahan olah karet kering (BOKAR), pada proses ini umumnya menggunakan bahan kimia seperti asam format dan asam asetat yang relatif mahal dan dapat berdampak negatif terhadap lingkungan. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan alternatif koagulan yang lebih ramah lingkungan, ekonomis, dan mudah diperoleh oleh petani, khususnya dari bahan limbah organik lokal. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan AcakLengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan duafaktor, yaitu jenis koagulan(nanas dan belimbing wuluh) dan dosis (0, 25, 50, 100 mL). Parameter yang diamati meliputi lama waktu menggumpal, berat basah, berat kering, dan kadar karet kering. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak limbah buah nanas dan belimbing wuluh secara signifikan mempengaruhi waktu penggumpalan, berat basah, dan berat kering lateks, namun tidak memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap kadar karet kering. Perlakuan terbaik dalam mempercepat waktu koagulasi diperoleh dari ekstrak limbah buah nanas 50 mL dengan waktu menggumpal hanya 106 detik (< 2 menit), sedangkan kadar karet kering tertinggi diperoleh dari ekstrak belimbing wuluh 25 mL sebesar 86,49%. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak limbah buah nanas dan belimbing wuluh dapat dijadikan sebagai alternatif koagulan alami yang efektif dalam proses koagulasi lateks karet. Pemanfaatan limbah buah ini berpotensi mengurangi ketergantungan padakoagulan kimia, meningkatkan efisiensi produksi karet, serta mendukung praktik pertanian yang lebih berkelanjutan dan ramah lingkungan Natural rubber is a traditional commodity as well as an export commodity that plays an important role as a foreign exchange earner from the plantation sub-sector, and is the mainstay of livelihood for many farming families. This study aims to examine thepotential use of pineapple (Ananas comosus) and starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi) waste as a natural coagulant in the coagulation process of rubber latex (Hevea brasiliensis). Coagulation is an important stage in latex processing to produce dry rubber processing materials (BOKAR), in this process generally uses chemicals such as formic acid and acetic acid which are relatively expensive and can have a negative impact on the environment. Therefore, an alternative coagulant is needed that is more environmentally friendly, economical, and easily obtained by farmers, especially fromlocal organic waste materials. This research method uses a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors, namely the type of coagulant (pineapple and starfruit) and dosage (0,25, 50, 100 mL). The parameters observed included coagulation time, wet weight, dry weight, and dry rubber content. The results showed that pineapple and starfruit waste extracts significantly affected coagulation time, wet weight, and dry weight of latex, but had no significant effect on dry rubber content. The best treatment for accelerating coagulationtime was obtainedfrom50mLofpineapple waste extract, withacoagulation time of only 106 seconds (<2 minutes), whilethe highest dry rubbercontent wasobtained from 25 mL of starfruit extract at 86.49%. From these results, it can be concluded that pineapple and starfruit waste extracts can be used as effective alternative natural coagulants in the rubber latex coagulation process. Utilizing this fruit waste has the potential to reduce dependence on chemical coagulants, increase rubber production efficiency, and support more sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural practices. |
