dc.description.abstractIslamic Boarding School memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk karakter dan kualitas pendidikan Islam yang unggul. Namun, tantangan lingkungan dan kebutuhan infrastruktur modern menuntut pendekatan baru dalam perancangan arsitektur. Penelitian ini mengangkat konsep Arsitektur Ekologis menurut Brenda dan Robert Vale sebagai pendekatan dalam merancang Islamic Boarding School di Pematang Siantar, Sumatera Utara. Metode yang digunakan mencakup studi literatur, observasi lapangan, dan studi banding dari proyek sejenis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan prinsip-prinsip ekologis seperti efisiensi energi, konservasi air, dan ruang terbuka hijau dapat menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang sehat dan berkelanjutan. Perancangan ini juga selaras dengan prinsip Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) dalam mendukung pendidikan berkualitas dan pembangunan berkelanjutan. Islamic Boarding School yang dirancang diharapkan menjadi model pendidikan Islam modern yang ramah lingkungan dan adaptif terhadap perkembangan zaman. Islamic Boarding Schools play an important role in shaping the character and quality of superior Islamic education. However, environmental challenges and the need for modern infrastructure demand a new approach in architectural design. This study raises the concept of Ecological Architecture according to Brenda and Robert Vale as an approach in designing an Islamic Boarding School in Pematang Siantar, North Sumatra. The methods used include literature studies, field observations, and comparative studies of similar projects. The results of the study show that the application of ecological principles such as energy efficiency, water conservation, and green open spaces can create a healthy and sustainable learning environment. This design is also in line with the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in supporting quality education and sustainable development. The designed Islamic Boarding School is expected to be a model of modern Islamic education that is environmentally friendly and adaptive to the development of the timesen_US
