This study aims to analyze the representation of health in the text of the Bio HSA herbal medicine advertisement on Radio Suara Medan 94.7 FM, presented in three versions: announcer, testimonial, and health education. This study employed a qualitative approach, using documentation techniques of advertisement recordings, transcriptions, and observation of message content. Data analysis was conducted interpretively using Roland Barthes's semiotic theory to examine denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings. The results show that at the denotative level, the advertisement represents health as a condition that can be achieved through the consumption of herbal products. At the connotative level, health is constructed as something close, safe, and credible through persuasive intonation, local language, and simple medical narratives. At the mythical level, the advertisement reinforces the discourse of herbal medicine as a natural and instant health solution without professional medical consultation. Comparison between versions shows a consistent representation of health, emphasizing product promotion over health education. |
