| dc.description.abstract | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mengetahui kelebihan dan kekurangan pemanfaatan YouTube sebagai media platform pembelajaran mandiri public speaking di kalangan Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Medan Area. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori information seeking untuk melihat bagaimana Mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Medan Area dalam memilih YouTube sebagai media platform untuk pembelajaran mandiri mengakses informasi mengenai public speaking. Data dikumpulakan melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pemanfaatan YouTube sebagai media platform pembelajaran mandiri public speaking yang di alami oleh mahasiswa beragam, mulai dari meningkatkan kepercayaan diri, meningkatkan keterampilan public speaking, dan menambah wawasan public speaking dalam bahasa inggris. Pemanfaatan YouTube sebagai media platform pembelajaran mandiri juga memiliki kelebihan seperti adanya audio dan visual, dapat melihat ekspresi wajah, dan lebih fleksibel. Sedangkan kekurangannya jika terjadi ganguan jaringan dapat menghambatpembelajaran, tidak dapat bertanya secara langsung, dan tidak dapat berinteraksi dengan pemateri. This study aims to analyze and determine the advantages and disadvantages of using YouTube as a platform for independent public speaking learning among Communication Science students at Medan Area University. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The theory used is the theory of information seeking to see how Communication Science students at Medan Area University choose YouTube as a platform for independent learning to access information about public speaking. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the use of YouTube as a platform for independent public speaking learning experienced by students varies, ranging from increasing self-confidence, improving public speaking skills, and increasing public speaking insight in English. Using YouTube as a platform for independent learning also has advantages such as audio and visuals, the ability to see facial expressions, and greater flexibility. However, the disadvantages include network disruptions that can hinder learning, the inability to ask questions directly, and the inability to interact with the presenter. | en_US |
