| Abstract: | Pengelasan merupakan salah satu metode penyambungan logam yang banyak digunakan dalam industri manufaktur. Salah satu teknik yang umum diterapkan adalah Metal Inert Gas (MIG), yang memiliki keunggulan dari sisi kemudahan, fleksibilitas, dan biaya. Pada perkembangan teknologi manufaktur, metode pengelasan ini banyak dimanfaatkan dalam proses Tailor Welded Blank (TWB), yaitu penyambungan dua atau lebih pelat logam dengan perbedaan ketebalan atau sifat material. TWB banyak diaplikasikan dalam industri otomotif dan konstruksi karena dapat meningkatkan efisiensi material, mengurangi berat komponen, serta menjaga kekuatan struktural. Namun, perbedaan ketebalan material sering menimbulkan variasi pada kualitas sambungan, khususnya kekuatan lentur, sehingga perlu dilakukan analisis secara sistematis.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh perbedaan ketebalan logam terhadap kekuatan lentur hasil pengelasan MIG pada sambungan TWB. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pembuatan spesimen dari baja karbon ST-37 dengan variasi ketebalan berbeda, kemudian dilakukan proses pengelasan menggunakan kawat serta pengujian lentur statis sesuai standar pengujian material. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis untuk mengetahui kualitas sambungan dan perbedaan sifat mekanik akibat variasi ketebalan.Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam pengembangan teknik pengelasan TWB yang lebih efektif dan efisien, serta menjadi referensi bagi industri dalam menentukan kombinasi ketebalan material dan metode pengelasan yang tepat untuk menghasilkan sambungan yang kuat dan andal. Welding is a method of joining metals that is widely used in the manufacturing industry. One technique that is commonly applied is Metal Inert Gas (MIG), which has advantages in terms of convenience, flexibility and cost. In the development of manufacturing technology, this welding method is widely used in the Tailor Welded Blank (TWB) process, namely joining two or more metal plates with different thicknesses or material properties. TWB is widely applied in the automotive and construction industries because it can increase material efficiency, reduce component weight, and maintain structural strength. However, differences in material thickness often cause variations in joint quality, especially flexural strength, so a systematic analysis needs to be carried out. This research aims to analyze the effect of differences in metal thickness on the flexural strength of MIG welding results in TWB joints. The method used includes making specimens from ST-37 carbon steel with different thickness variations, then carrying out a welding process using wire and static bending testing according to material testing standards. The data obtained was analyzed to determine the quality of the connection and differences in mechanical properties due to variations in thickness. The results of this research are expected to contribute to the development of more effective and efficient TWB welding techniques, as well as become a reference for industry in determining the right combination of material thickness and welding method to produce strong and reliable connections. |
