This study aims to describe the level of public speaking anxiety among students of the Faculty of Psychology, Class of 2023, at Universitas Medan Area. The research employed a quantitative descriptive method with 100 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was the Public Speaking Anxiety Scale, consisting of 39 valid items with a reliability coefficient of 0.885. Data analysis was conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics version 21.0 through descriptive tests, including calculations of empirical mean, hypothetical mean, and standard deviation. The results indicate that the level of public speaking anxiety among students falls into the moderate category, with an empirical mean of 102.16 and a hypothetical mean of 97.5. The three components of anxiety which is physical, cognitive, and emotional were also in the moderate category, with the physical and cognitive components being the most dominant. These findings suggest that public speaking anxiety is a common phenomenon experienced by students but remains at an adaptive level that can be managed through practice, increased self-confidence, and continuous communication experience. | en_US |
