This study aims to examine the relationship between work stress and employee performance at Perumda Tirtanadi Medan Denai Branch. Using a quantitative correlational approach, the study involved 35 permanent employees selected through purposive sampling. Instruments included a work stress scale (Beehr & Newman) and a performance scale (based on the scale obtained directly from the company). Both tools were highly reliable (α = 0.965 for work stress). Data were normally distributed and showed a linear relationship. Pearson correlation revealed a significant negative relationship between work stress and performance (r = -0.652, p < 0.01), with a determination coefficient of 42.5% (R² = 0.425). The empirical mean indicated high stress levels and low performance. The findings suggest that increased work stress leads to decreased employee performance. This highlights the importance of effective stress management in improving workplace productivity.
