This study is motivated by the important role of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) as rural economic institutions in increasing Village Original Revenue (Pendapatan Asli Desa/PADes), although in practice they still face various challenges. The purpose of this research is to analyze the role of BUMDes Barokah Simpan Pinjam in increasing PADes in Pir Trans Sosa 3A Village, Hutaraja Tinggi District, Padang Lawas Regency, and to identify the obstacles encountered in its implementation. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The analysis is based on role theory developed by John M. Ivancevich, Robert Konopaske, and Michael T. Matteson, which includes expected role, perceived role, and role played. The results indicate that BUMDes Barokah Simpan Pinjam has contributed to increasing PADes through savings and loan services and community business capital support; however, its role has not been fully optimized due to limited human resources, low community understanding, and management and administrative constraints.en_US
