Soil serves as a crucial reservoir of organic carbon in climate change mitigation efforts. This study aimed to survey soil organic carbon (C-organic) content across different land use types in Naman Teran Subdistrict, Karo Regency, and identify variations among land use types. The research was conducted from June to August 2025 using descriptive quantitative survey methods with stratified random sampling across three land use types: horticulture, forest, and shrubland, with soil samples collected at 0-15 cm and 16-30 cm depths. Measured parameters included soil pH (H₂O), soil organic carbon content, and cation exchange capacity (CEC). Results showed acidic soil pH across all land use types. The highest C-organic content was found in forest land, followed by shrubland and horticulture, with significant variations between soil depths. Differences in land use types significantly affected C-organic content, influenced by vegetation, Sinabung volcano slope topography, and land management practices. |
