The plant Calliandra calothyrsus has potential as a source of endophytic bacteria that can enhance plant growth through the production of Indole Acetic Acid (IAA). This study aimed to isolate and characterize endophytic bacteria from C. calothyrsus and evaluate their potential as IAA-producing agents. Isolation was carried out from root and stem tissues using a surface sterilization method, followed by purification of isolates, morphological characterization, hypersensitivity testing on Mirabilis jalapa leaves, and qualitative IAA production testing using Salkowski reagent. The results showed that a total of 20 endophytic bacterial isolates were obtained, consisting of 14 isolates from roots and 6 isolates from stems. Hypersensitivity tests identified four non-pathogenic isolates, namely BEBK 3, BEBK 4, BEBK 5, and BEAK 4. IAA testing revealed that two isolates, BEBK 3 and BEBK 5, demonstrated potential as IAA producers. These findings indicate that C. calothyrsus is a promising source of endophytic bacteria that can be utilized as plant growth-promoting agents.en_US
