Abstract: The study was conducted at the experimental farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Medan Area is located on the street No. pool. 1 Field Estate, District Percut Sei Tuan with altitude of appraximately 12 m above sea level, flat topography and alluvial soil types. This study was conducted from March to July 2013. This study aims to assess the growth and yield of red pepper on a variety of materials compost as a growing medium in the mulch. The research method used is a randomized block design (RBD) Non Factorial is the type of organic matter treatment. The parameters observed were plant height, number of productive branches, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, pest inventory.
Description: Penelitian dilakukan di kebun percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Medan Area yang berlokasi di jalan Kolam No. 1 Medan Estate, Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan dengan ketinggian tempat kira-kira 12 m dari permukaan laut, topografi datar dan jenis tanah alluvial. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan mulai bulan Maret sampai dengan juli 2013. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman cabai merah pada berbagai bahan kompos sebagai media tumbuh di mulsa. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) Non Faktorial yaitu perlakuan jenis bahan organik. Parameter Yang Diamati adalah Tinggi Tanaman, jumlah cabang produktif, jumlah buah per tanaman, bobot buah per tanaman, inventarisasi hama.
