dc.description.abstractThis research is a quantitative research that aims to test and obtain data empirically on the relationship of social support with psychological well-being in employees. In line with the theoretical foundation, the hypothesis is proposed that there is a positive relationship between social support and psychological well-being of employees. Where the higher the social support the higher the psychological well-being. On the contrary, the lower the social support the lower psychological well-being. This study involved 78 PT. PLN (Persero) North Sumatra Area employees as research subjects. Sampling is done by simple random sampling technique. This study uses Likert scale instruments for social support scale and psychological well-being scale. The scale of social support is based on aspects of social support according to Canava and Dolan ( in Tarmidi and Rambe, 2010): emotional support, award support, instrumental support, information support, and social network support. The scale of psychological well-being is based on the psychological well-being dimension according to Ryff (1989): selfacceptance, positive relationship with others, autonomy, environmental mastery, life purpose, personal growth. Based on data analysis, obtained results there is a positive relationship between social support with psychological well-being. This result is proved by correlation coefficient, where rxy = 0.491 ; p = 0.000 < 0.05. The value of coefficient of determination ( R Square) of research with a value of 0.241. Can be interpreted that social support variable affect psychological well-being equal to 24,1%. From the calculation of the hypothetical mean and the empirical mean obtained social support with psychological well-being is in the high categoryen_US
