Hardiness pada Single Parent

Abstract

This study used qualitative research method. The purpose of this study is found the hardiness on single parent. According to Maddi (2013) Hardiness emerged as a pattern of attitudes and strategies that together facilitate turning stress full circumstances from potential disasters into growth opportunities. This study used in depth interview technique and observation as data retrieval technique. The subject for this study were two person who have the characteristic is single mother for the divorce and death, adult women 17-40 years old and have children. This study used a theory from Maddi (2013) to see the factors of hardiness, and the stages of to achieve hardiness, theory Maddi and Khosaba (2005) to see the Aspects of hardiness, and the Conger (Faturochman, 1989) to see the characteristics of hardiness. The Result of this study shows that the factor that affects the first respondent in the achievement of hardiness is environment, and for the second respondent the factor of learned process. For the Aspects of hardiness, the first respondent shows the attitude of challenge to show more, and for the second respondent commitment is the attitude that shows more. And for the Stages to achieve hardiness, The first respondent shows the stage of hardy social interaction, for the second respondent shows the stage of hardy self care and for the characteristics of hardiness, The first respondent and the second has the same which is positive self value, positive relationship, spontaneous, academic and realistic purpose oriented.
