Hubungan Dukungan Sosial dengan Penerimaan Diri pada Lansia di Yayasan Guna Budi Bakti

Abstract

This study to look at the relationship between Social Support and Self-Acceptance in the Elderly at the Guna Budi Bakti Foundation. The subjects in this study were 40 elderly people living in the Guna Budi Bakti foundation. The sampling technique uses Total Sampling technique. Retrieval of data is carried out using two scales, namely the scale of Social Support from the aspects proposed by Hause (in Suniatul, 2010) and the scale of Self Acceptance from the aspects proposed by Sheerer (in Veronika, 2015) prepared based on Likert Scale method. Data analysis using Product Moment correlation technique (rxy) of 0.773 with p = 0.000 <0.005, meaning that there is a positive and significant relationship between Social Support and Elderly Self Acceptance, which indicates that the higher the Social Support, the higher the Self Acceptance. On the contrary, the lower the Social Support, the lower the Self Acceptance. Social support for the elderly in this study is high because (the empirical mean = 62.60> the hypothetical mean = 50 where the difference exceeds the SD number = 7.295). And Self-acceptance is also high, because (the empirical mean = 63.88> mean hypothetical = 52.5 where the difference exceeds the SD number = 8.913). That is, the higher social support, the higher self-acceptance. Based on these results, it means that the proposed hypothesis which states that there is a relationship between social support and self-acceptance in the elderly is accepted. The coefficient of determination of the correlation is R2 = 0.597, meaning that Social Support contributes effectively to Self Revenue of 59.7%. Based on this research, it can be seen that there are still 40.3% of the influence of other factors on self-acceptance which were not revealed in this research.
