Hubungan antara Kontrol Diri dengan Perilaku Konsumtif pada Mahasiswa/i Psikologi di Universitas Medan Area

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship of self control with consumptive behavior in the service users internet package of psychology students of University Medan Area. The population of this study is students in University Medan Area as many as 205 people. The sample was 51 people, the sample was taken by using random sampling technique. The data were collected using two psychological scales is Self Control Scale (51 valid items, a = 0,921) and Consumptive Behavior Scale (27 valid items, a = 0,880). The results of this study show the correlation coefficient of rxy -0,358 with p = 0,008 < 0,05. The results show that the hypothesis proposed by the researcher that there is a negative relationship between self control with consumptive behavior is acceptable. Negative correlation coefficient value indicates that the direction of relationship between the two variables is negative, meaning the lowest the self control increasingly the highest the consumptive behavior. Self control gives effective contribution of 12,8% at consumptive behavior and equal to 87,2% influenced by other factor that not examined in this research.
