Hubungan antara Kesamaan (Similarity) dengan Pembentuk Persahabatan pada Remaja di Kelurahan VII Tarutung

Abstract

This research is quantitative research that aims to examine and to get the data empirically about the relationship between similarity with the former of friendship in teens. Based on the theoretical framework, the researcher proposed a hypothesis that there is a positive relationship between similarity with the former of friendship in teens. Where the higher the similarity then the higher is also the formation of friendship. Conversely, the lower the similarity the lower the formation of friendship. This study involved 52 adolescents in Kelurahan VII Tarutung as research subjects. Sampling is done by total sampling technique. This research uses Likert scale instrument for similarity scale with friendship former. The similarities scales are based on aspects of social support according to Maryati, Kun and Juju Suryawati (2014), namely: (1) meet frequently, (2) make contact, and (3) proximity of residence / area of origin. The scales of friendship are based on the friendship-making aspects of Parker & Asher (1993): (1) Validation and caring, (2) Conflict resolution, (3) Conflict and betrayal, (4) Help and guidance, (5) Companionship and Recreation, and (6) Intimate exchange. Based on the data analysis, there is a positive relationship between similarity and friendship form. This result is proved by correlation coefficient, where rxy = 0.672; p = 0.000 <0.05. The value of coefficient of determination (R square) research with a value of 0.451. It can be interpreted that the similarity variable affects the formation of friendship of 45.1%. From the calculation of the hypothetical mean and the empirical mean is obtained similarity with the former of friendship in the high category.
