Abstract: This research was aimed to observe the relationship of self esteem and learning motivation of SMA Bina Bersaudara students. Learning motivation is the whole locomotive from within the students which causing the learning activity, ensure the sustainability of learning activity and direct the learning activity, thus the expected objective of the learning subjects can be obtained. The research hypothesis suspects that there is a relationship between self esteem and learning motivation of SMA Bina Bersaudara Medan. The sample of this research is 100 students. Data gathering was using random sampling technique. The questionnaire was using Likert Scale. Gathered data was analyzed using Pearson Moment Correlation. The result of the research was as follows; ,rxy = 0.482 + r2 = 23.3% with p = 0,000 < 0,050. For self esteem, hypothetic mean was 85 and empiric mean was 104.24, with SD 11.029, thus it is categorized high. For learning motivation, hypothetic mean was 97.5 and empiric mean was 118.73, with SD 14.471, thus it is also categorized high. Based on the result of the research, the effective contribution of X to Y was 23.3% and was accepted.
Description: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan harga diri dengan motivasi belajar siswa SMA Bina Bersaudara Medan. Motivasi belajar adalah keseluruhan daya penggerak dalam diri siswa yang menimbulkan kegiatan belajar, yang menjamin kelangsungan dari kegiatan belajar dan memberikan arah pada kegiatan belajar, sehingga tujuan yang dikehendaki oleh subyek belajar itu dapat tercapai. Hipotesis penelitian menyatakan adanya hubungan harga diri dengan motivasi belajar siswa SMA Bina Bersaudara Medan. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 100 siswa. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik random sampling. Teknik pengambilan sampel dengan menggunakan random sampling teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan skala model likert.Analisis data menggunakan korelasi product moment. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh, rxy = 0,482 + r2 = 23,3% dengan p = 0,000 < 0,050. Hasil perhitungan nilai rata-rata hipotetik dan empiric diketahui berdasarkan harga diri SD = 11,029. Adapun untuk harga diri Hipotetik 85 Dan mean empirik 104,24 dikategorikan tinggi dan untuk motivasi belajar SD = 14,471 Hipotetik 97,5 dan mean empirik 118,73 dikategorikan tinggi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian bobot sumbangan efektif X terhadap Y 23,3% oleh hipotetik penelitian dinyatakan diterima.
