The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between emotional regulation and anxiety facing matches in tennis athletes at Medan State University. Method This research is a quantitative method. The population in this study were all athletes totaling 110 people with a sample of 85 people using purposive sampling technique. Based on the results of the analysis, there is a negative relationship between emotional regulation and anxiety, with a value of rxy = -0.455 with a significant p = 0.001 < 0.050. Coefficient The determinant (r2) of Variable X with variable Y is r2 = 0.207. This shows that emotional regulation contributes to anxiety by 20.7%. Known from The results of this study show that anxiety is classified as higher because of the empirical mean value (61.19) is greater than the hypothetical (50), while emotional regulation is relatively low because the empirical mean value (20.96) is smaller than the hypothetical mean (25).
