Abstract: | Sirih china (Peperomia pellucida L.) is herbaceous plant, member of Piperaceae. The plant contained alkaloid, flavonoid and tannin that were able to prevents bacteria growth such as Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumonia, E. coli. The plant was traditionally used for treating diseases such as an infection, antiimflamasi and antibacterial. The objective of this experiment was to determine any antibacterial in the plant extract toward Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis and to determines the most effective concentration to inhibit the growth of the bacteria. This research used completely randomized design (CRD). The concentration treatments were 0 %, 25 %, 50 %, 75 % and 100 % with 4 replications. The results show that plant extract have no antibacterial effect toward Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis. |
Description: | Sirih cina (Peperomia pellucida L.) merupakan tumbuhan herba yang termasuk dalam family Piperaceae. Tanaman ini mengandung senyawa alkaloid, flavonoid dan tanin yang mampu menghambat pertumbuhan bakteri seperti Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumonia, E. coli. Tumbuhan ini secara tradisional dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat untuk mengobati penyakit seperti infeksi, antiimflamasi dan antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada tidaknya daya anti bakteri ekstrak tumbuhan tersebut terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Staphylococcus epidermidis serta menentukan konsentrasi hambat terbaik terhadap bakteri uji. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode RAL (Rancangan Acak Lengkap). Konsentrasi ekstrak yang digunakan yaitu 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% dan 100% dengan 4 kali pengulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak tumbuhan tersebut tidak memiliki daya antibakteri terhadap Staphylococcus aureus dan Staphylococcus epidermidis. |
