Abstract: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah ada hubungan antara kesepian dengan kecanduan media sosial Instagram pada remaja SMA Negeri 2 Medan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan jumlah populasi 205 responden dan sampel 175 responden. Metode pengambilan sampel menggunakan quota sampling. Skala yang digunakan dalam bentuk skala likert. Pengambilan data dilakukan menggunakan dua skala, yaitu skala kesepian dengan kecanduan media sosial Instagram. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah korelasi product moment dengan 𝑟𝑥𝑦= 0,587;p=0,000<0,05, artinya terdapat hubungan positif antara kesepian dengan kecanduan media sosial Instagram dengan asumsi bahwa semakin tinggi kesepian maka semakin tinggi kecanduan media sosial Instagram. Sebaliknya, semakin rendah kesepian maka semakin rendah kecanduan media sosial Instagram. Dengan demikian hipotesis yang diajukan diterima. Kesepian koefisien korelasi sebesar 34,5% terhadap kecanduan media sosial Instagram. Dengan kata lain 65,5% kecanduan media sosial Instagram dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain. This study aimed to find If there is a correlation between loneliness and Instagram social media addiction in adolescents of SMA Negeri 2 Medan. The research method used was quantitative with a population of205 respondents and a sample of175 respondents. The sampling method used quota sampling. The scale used was in the form of a Likert scale. Data collection was carried out using two scales, namely the loneliness scale with Instagram social media addiction. The data analysis technique used was product moment correlation with rxy = 0.587: p =0.= 0.000 <0.05, meaning that there was a positive relationship between loneliness and Inastagram social media addiction with the assumption that the higher the loneliness, the higher the Instagram social media addiction. Conversely, the lower the loneliness, the lower the Instagram social media addiction. Thus the proposed hypothesis was accepted. Loneliness had a correlation coefficient of 34.5% on Instagram social media addiction. In other words, 65.5% of Instagram social media addiction is influenced by other factors.
