This research aims to see the effect of self-control on online game addiction in students. The sample in the study amounted to 130 people using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection uses a Likert scale model, namely a self-control scale and an online game addiction scale. The results of the simple linear regression hypothesis test obtained a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.753, which means that the influence of self-control on online game addiction is 75.3%. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that self-control can influence online game addiction. The results of data analysis of the hypothetical mean and empirical mean as evidenced by the normal curve of the self-control variable can be seen that the self-control of students at the Faculty of Psychology, Medan Area University is classified as high, where the hypothetical mean (67.5) < the empirical mean (68.36) and the difference exceeds the value of one. SD (8.951). For the normal curve of the online game addiction variable, it can be seen that online game addiction among students at the Faculty of Psychology, Medan Area University is relatively low where the hypothetical mean value (77.5) < empirical mean (71.92) is a difference that exceeds the value of one SD (23.193). From these results, it can be concluded that the higher the self-control of students at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Medan Area, the lower the online game addiction experienced by students at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Medan Area.
