Indonesia is a country prone to earthquakes, so the analysis of building structure performance is very important in ensuring construction safety. This study aims to evaluate the seismic performance of the superstructure of a 4-story shophouse on Jalan Bangka, Medan, using the pushover analysis method based on SAP2000 software. This analysis was conducted to determine the capacity of the structure to withstand lateral loads due to earthquakes and identify critical points that are vulnerable to structural failure. The research method used is a quantitative approach with numerical analysis based on the ATC-40, FEMA 440, and SNI 1726:2019 standards. A structural model was created based on existing data, then a pushover analysis simulation was carried out to obtain the capacity curve (pushover curve), plastic hinge formation pattern, story drift, and other performance parameters. The analysis results show that the structure of the 4-story shophouse analyzed is still in the Immediate Occupancy (IO) performance category, which means the building experiences minimal deformation and can still be used after an earthquake without the need for significant structural repairs. Based on the evaluation results, several structural strengthening strategies are recommended to improve building earthquake resistance, such as increasing the capacity of structural elements, strengthening critical zones, and optimizing lateral systems. This study is expected to serve as a reference in the planning and design of more earthquake-resistant buildings.
