Abstract: Penelitian ini membahas fenomena tren konten TikTok dalam perilaku code-mixing di kalangan Mahasiswa Gen Z Program Studi Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Medan Area Angkatan 2021. This research discusses the phenomenon of TikTok content trends and its influence on code-mixing behaviour among Gen Z students of the Communication Studies Program of Medan Area University class of 2021. The background of the research is based on the rampant use of Indonesian-English mixed language in digital communication, which is increasingly common due to exposure to social media, especially TikTok. The purpose of this study is to understand how TikTok content shapes students' communication patterns and motivations in using code-mixing. The theory used is the Social Construction of Reality Theory by Berger and Luckmann, which explains how social reality is formed through the interaction process. The research method used is qualitative with a netnography approach, supported by observation, literature study, and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The results showed that TikTok became a powerful digital social space in influencing the way Gen Z communicates, where code-mixing is used as self-expression, a symbol of modernity, and part of social identity. However, this phenomenon also raises concerns about the sustainability of Indonesian as a national language.
