| Abstract: | Komunitas Penggemar K-Pop sering kali dikenal karena loyalitas dan dedikasinya terhadap idola atau grup musik favorit mereka namun, dibalik semua aktivitas positif ini, terdapat fenomena lain yang cukup menonjol, yaitu adanya konflik antar komunitas penggemar yang dikenal sebagai “Fan Wars”. Dalam industri musik K-Pop yang berkembang pesat, persaingan antara grup-grup idol sering kali menciptakan fanbase yang sangat berdedikasi. Dua dari grup yang paling populer dan sukses pada era modern adalah BTS dan EXO. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan metodologi penelitian kualitatif. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa fenomena fan wars antar penggemar yang terjadi di kolom komentar akun Instagram @weareone.exo dan @bts.bighitofficial menggambarkan peran penting simbol fandom dalam membentuk identitas sosial, menunjukkan komitmen penggemar terhadap idola mereka, serta memicu persaingan dan ketegangan antar penggemar yang berbeda. Simbol-simbol, seperti emoji, hashtag, dan slogan dari fandom bukan hanya berfungsi sebagai alat berkomunikasi, tetapi juga membantu membentuk makna yang memperkuat rasa persaudaraan di dalam kelompok sekaligus memperketat batas sosial antara penggemar EXO dan BTS. Dengan demikian, fan wars menjadi bentuk perjuangan dimana simbol dan identitas digunakan untuk mempertahankan posisi sosial dalam ruang digital, memperkuat persatuan di dalam kelompok, serta menegaskan ketegangan sosial antar kelompok fandom yang saling bersaing. K-Pop fan communities are often known for their loyalty and dedication to their favorite idols or music groups. However, behind all these positive activities, there is another phenomenon that is quite prominent, namely the conflict between fan communities known as "Fan Wars". In the rapidly growing K-Pop music industry, competition between idol groups often creates a very dedicated fanbase. Two of the most popular and successful groups in the modern era are BTS and EXO. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative research methodology. This study shows that the phenomenon of fan wars between fans that occurs in the comment sections of the Instagram accounts @weareone.exo and @bts.bighitofficial illustrates the important role of fandom symbols in shaping social identity, demonstrating fans' commitment to their idols, and triggering competition and tension between different fans. Symbols such as emojis, hashtags, and slogans from fandom not only function as communication tools, but also help shape meanings that strengthen the sense of brotherhood within the group while tightening social boundaries between EXO and BTS fans. Thus, fan wars become a form of struggle in which symbols and identities are used to maintain social positions in digital spaces, strengthen unity within groups, and emphasize social tensions between competing fandom groups. |
