Household safety during disasters such as floods is crucial to protect electrical equipment and occupants. To address this, an automatic power cut-off protection system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) was designed. The system utilizes an ultrasonic sensor to detect water levels, a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller as the main controller, and a relay module to automatically disconnect the power supply. It is also equipped with LEDs, a buzzer for early warnings, and remote control via the Blynk platform, enabling quick response and early alerts. Testing shows the system functions effectively when water levels exceed 25 cm, with the highest error rate recorded at 26.8% for a reading of 27.80 cm. Additionally, the system is capable of sending real-time notifications to the user’s smartphone. Overall, the device successfully detects potential hazards and automatically disconnects the power according to the set threshold, thereby reducing the risk of short circuits and fires during disasters.
