This research aims to analyze the tensile strength of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) joints in the Tailor Welded Blank (TWB) process using materials with different carbon contents, namely ST37 steel (low carbon), AISI 1050 steel (medium carbon), and their combination. The welding process was carried out using E6013 electrodes in accordance with ASTM A370-07A standards, followed by tensile testing with a Tensile Test Machine. The results show that ST37 steel has the lowest average tensile strength but the highest elongation, indicating better ductility. In contrast, AISI 1050 steel exhibits the highest tensile strength but lower elongation, making it more brittle. The ST37–AISI 1050 combination provides intermediate tensile strength, although its properties are more influenced by the low-carbon steel (ST37). This research confirm that variations in carbon content significantly affect the mechanical properties of SMAW welds in the TWB process, and material selection plays a crucial role in achieving optimal joint performance for specific applications. |
