This study aimed to examine the differences in juvenile delinquency among students based on their demographic background at UPT SMP Negeri 15 Medan. The demographic variables examined included gender, living arrangements, participation in communities outside school, socioeconomic status, parental status, and frequency of behavior. This research used a quantitative approach with a comparative method. The research subjects consisted of 60 students. Data were collected using a juvenile delinquency scale based on a four-point Likert scale. The data were analyzed using Independent Sample t-test and One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to identify differences between groups. The results of the analysis showed that there were significant differences in juvenile delinquency based on demographic background. This was indicated by several variables with significance values lower than 0.05, namely gender (p = 0.006), living arrangements (p = 0.007), community participation outside school (p = 0.007), socioeconomic status (p = 0.000), parental status (p = 0.001), and frequency of behavior (p = 0.000). Descriptive results indicated that female students had a higher mean score of delinquency (Mean = 117.55) compared to male students (Mean = 102.63). Based on socioeconomic status, students from the middle socioeconomic group showed the highest mean delinquency score (Mean = 117.86). These findings indicate that demographic factors play a role in influencing variations in juvenile delinquency. Therefore, efforts to prevent juvenile delinquency should involve the role of families, schools, and the social environment.
