Hubungan antara Empati dengan Interaksi Sosial Remaja di SMA Yayasan Perguruan Indonesia Membangun Medan

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between empathy and social interaction in adolescents in high school Indonesian Education Foundation Building Medan. The population in this study were 287 students and the sample used was 75 students. The method used in this study is a quantitative method. The subjects of this study were teenagers in Yapim High School. In line with the discussion contained in the theoretical foundation, the hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is a positive relationship between empathy and social interaction. Assuming the higher empathy, the better social interaction in adolescents. Likewise, vice versa, the lower the empathy, the worse the social interaction in adolescents. This study uses the scale of empathy and the scale of social interaction. Data collection is done using a Likert scale. The data analysis technique used in this study is the product moment correlation analysis technique. The results of the analysis show that there is a significant positive relationship between empathy and social interaction seen from the linearity coefficient R xy = 0.869 with p = 0.000 < 0.05. Determinant coefficient value (r 2) 0.755 or equal to 75.5 %. The meaning is that empathy from students contributes 75.5% to the social interaction of Yapim High School students in Medan. From the results of this study, the proposed hypothesis was declared accepted.
