Hubungan antara Harga Diri dengan Perilaku Prososial pada Remaja di SMA Yayasan Perguruan Indonesia Membangun Medan

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self esteem and prosocial behavior in adolescents in high school Indonesian Education Foundation Building Medan. The population in this study were 287 students and the sample used was 90 students. The method used in this research is quantitative method. The subjects of this study were teenagers at Yapim High School. In line with the discussion contained in the theoretical basis, the hypothesis proposed in this study is that there is a positive relationship between self-esteem and prosocial behavior. Assuming the higher self-esteem, the higher prosocial behavior in adolescents. Vice versa, the lower self-esteem, the lower the prosocial behavior of adolescents. This research uses self-esteem scale and prosocial behavior scale. Data collection is done using a Likert scale. The data analysis technique used in this study is the product moment correlation analysis technique. The results of the analysis note that there is a significant positive relationship between self-esteem and prosocial behavior seen from the linearity coefficient R_xy = 0.676 with p = 0.000 <0.05. The value of the determinant coefficient (r 2) 0.456 or equal to 45.6%. The meaning is that the self-esteem of these students contributed 45.6% to the prosocial behavior of Yapim Medan High School students. From the results of this study, the hypothesis proposed was accepted.
