Hubungan Konsep Diri dengan Komunikasi Interpersonal pada Remaja Kelas XI di SMA Kemala Bhayangkari 1 Medan

Abstract

This study aims to test empirically to determine the relationship of self-concept with interpersonal communication in adolescents of class XI at Kemala Bhayangkari-1 Medan High School. The method used in this research is quantitative method. Subjects were 164 students in class XI Kemala Bhayangkari-1 Medan, taken as a research sample using total sampling. The scale used is a scale of self-concept totaling 39 items, and interpersonal communication scale totaling 33 items compiled using the Likert scale method. The self-concept scale reliability Rtt = 0.908 and the interpersonal communication reliability Rtt = 0.917. The analysis technique used in this study is the Product Moment correlation technique used to analyze the relationship between one independent variable and one dependent variable. The results of the analysis note that there is a significant positive relationship between self-concept and interpersonal communication, where rxy = 0.378; p = 0,000 < 0.050. Other results obtained from this study that self-concept contributes to interpersonal communication by 14.3 %. In addition, other results obtained from this study of self-concept in adolescents are classified as high with an average empirical value obtained that is 125.35 while interpersonal communication in adolescents is classified as moderate with an average value of empiric obtained is 93.34. From the results of this study, the hypothesis proposed was accepted.
