Pemanfaatan Tanaman Kelapa (Cocos nucifera) oleh Etnis Masyarakat di Desa Kelambir dan Desa Kubah Sentang Kecamatan Pantai Labu Kabupaten Deli Serdang

Abstract

This study aims to determine the coconut varieties and the use of coconut plants by ethnic communities in Kelambir Village and Kubah Sentang Village, Labu Beach District, Deli Serdang Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive with data collection techniques using in-depth interviews or in-depth interviews, the selection of respondents is done by Snowball Sampling technique that is the sample is obtained through a rolling process from one respondent to another respondent. The results of the study were obtained 3 coconut varieties in Kelambir Village, namely coconut varieties in hammer, coconut in mapenget, and bali yellow coconut while in Kubah Sentang dome Village there were 4 coconut varieties namely coconut in hammer, hybrid coconut, coconut in tenga and coconut in mapenget. The most commoly, uset, parts of coconut plants are fruit (97 %), stms (93 %), leaves and coconut water (73%), shells (44%), midribs (28%), coir (17%), roots (8%), and coconut juice ( 6%). Utilization of coconuts based on research results, namely as food (96%), boards (88%), crafts (80%), medicine (71%), fuel (60%), ceremonies (20%) and beauty (6%).
