Abstract: Clay soil is an aggregate of microscopic and sub-microscopic particles originating from the decay of rock-forming chemical elements, and is plastic in moderate to wide water content intervals. The magnitude of the plasticity and permeability properties of clay soils, can result in reduced strength of soil carrying capacity. The carrying capacity of the soil can of course be increased by maintaining and or increasing the shear strength of the soil. The purpose of this study is to analyze the value of cohesion and shear angle in the soil by adding additives in the form of zeolite as a mixture, which is able to strengthen the carrying capacity of the soil. The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence the addition of zeolite as an additive on clay soil to the shear strength of the soil. The research will be conducted in 3 (three) variations, namely 0%, 20%, 30%, 40%. The results of this study are as follows: soil cohesion value for zeolite addition of 0%, 20%, 30%, 40% is 0.673 kg / cm2; 0.679 kg / cm2; 0.694 kg / cm2; 0.713 kg / cm2. The results of this study found the value of soil cohesion for zeolite addition of 0%, 20%, 30%, 40% was 43,025 ; 41,987 ; 37,235 ; 33,024 . and from the results of the cohesion value and shear angle it can be seen that the addition of zeolite in clay shows an increase in the value of cohesion and shear angle in clay.
