Hubungan Dukungan Orangtua dengan Harga Diri Remaja Kelas X di SMA Harapan Mandiri Medan

Abstract

This research aims for verify and getting the empirical data relationship of parenting support with self esteem. Hypothesis in this research is there is a positive relationship between Parenting Support and Self Esteem. The subject of research is teenagers SMA Harapan Mandiri Medan class X some 120 people with age range 14-18 years old. The research method used is quantitative research methods. The sampling method was used is Purposive Sampling. This study used two scales as measurement, parenting support scales which is based on the theory of aspects Sarafino (1998) and Self esteem which is based on the theory of aspects Coopersmith (and written by Ghufron 2013) . The reliability of parenting support scale was 0.917 and consisted of 30 items while the reliability of self esteem scale was 0,864 and consisted of 30 iems. Analysis of data was product moment correlatin. Based on the analysis found that there was a relationship between parenting support with self esteem at teenagers SMA Harapan Mandiri Medan with coefficient correlation (rxy) 0,974 with p= 0,000 (p,0,10), implication of this research is the higher parenting support the higher self esteem. Thus the hypothesis in this research was rejected.
