Abstract: Humid conditions in traditional markets and long distribution process before consumed by the consumers can reduce the quality of peanuts. The decrease was mainly due to the infection of the fungus Aspergillus flavus. This fungus besides damaging peanut seeds also produce aflatoxins that are toxic. If these peanuts are consumed by humans the aflatoxins will accumulate in the liver cells, it can cause liver cancer. Number of A. flavus colony are calculated for each sample, the level of water content are measured using dry method, and through testing of thin layer chromatography with standard aflatoxin, aflatoxin levels in peanut seeds can be known.
