The goal to be achieved by this researcher is to find out and explain the relationship between self-esteem and body dissatisfaction at SMA UISU Medan. In this research, there are two variables that are considered, namely self-esteem and body dissatisfaction. The research method used in this study is a quantitative method. In this study the variables studied were self-esteem and body dissatisfaction. The population of this study were teenagers who were attending SMA UISU Medan. .The sample for this study was taken based on the screening results of female adolescents who experienced body dissatisfaction and found 36 people. Based on the results of the analysis using the Product Moment correlation method from Pearson, it can be seen that there is a negative relationship between self-esteem and body dissatisfaction in adolescents. This can be seen from the coefficient rxy= -0.604 and P = 0.000 according to the criterion P <0.05, it means that the higher the experience of body dissatisfaction, the lower the self-esteem, conversely, the lower the experience of body dissatisfaction, the higher the self-esteem.Based on the results of the analysis it is known that the contribution given by selfesteem is r2 = 0.364. This shows that body dissatisfaction is influenced by self-esteem with a percentage of 36.4%. This shows that teenagers at UISU High School have an effect on their self-esteem if they experience body dissatisfaction. By looking at the percentage, it can be concluded that there is 63.6% influence from other factors, namely social comparison and self schema theory.
