dc.description.abstractTanaman kopi adalah pohon kecil yang bernama perpugenus coffea dari familia Rubiaceae. Tanaman kopi yang umumnya berasal dari benua Afrika, termasuk famili Rubiaceae dan jenis kelamin Coffea. Kopi bukan produk homogen; ada banyak varietas dan beberapa cara pengolahannya (Spillane,1990). Harga jual biji kopi semangkin lama semangkin menurun oleh karena itu perlu pengolahan biji kopi menjadi serbuk kopi yang dilakukan dalam beberapa proses. Konversi biji kopi menjadi kopi bubuk merupakan salah satu alternatif untuk meningkatkan nilai jual kopi yang. Salah satu kendala pengembangan industri kopi bubuk skala kecil dan menengah adalah tidak tersedianya mesin sangrai yang murah, efisien, dan mampu menghasilkan produk yang kompetitif. Oleh karena itu muncul pemikiran untuk merancang dan membangun alat sangrai kopi skala kecil untuk usaha tingkat kecil menengah. The coffee plant is a small tree named Perpugenus coffea from the Rubiaceae family. Coffee plants that generally come from the African continent, including the Rubiaceae family and the Coffea sex. Coffee is not a homogeneous product; there are many varieties and several ways of processing (Spillane, 1990). The selling price of coffee beans is decreasing over time, therefore it is necessary to process coffee beans into coffee powder which is carried out in several processes. Conversion of coffee beans into ground coffee is an alternative to increase the selling value of coffee. One of the obstacles to the development of the small and medium scale ground coffee industry is the unavailability of a roasting machine that is cheap, efficient, and capable of producing competitive products. Therefore, the idea arose to design and build a small scale coffee roaster for small and medium-sized businesses.en_US
