Abstract: Korosi didefinisikan sebagai kerusakan material melalui reaksi kimia atau elektrokimia tak disengaja yang dimulai pada permukaannya. Definisi ini meliputi material logam dan bukan )ogam, istilal1 korosi umumnya digunakan untuk menyatakan kerusakan material logam. Material bukan logam mengalami korosi hanya oleh bahan kimia tertentu dalam kondisi khusus dan pada umumnya tahan terhadap media korosif ringan seperti air dan atmosfer. Logam-logam tersebut ada yang memiliki ketahanan terhadap air dan atmosfer tetapi sebagian logam-logam tersebut dapat terkorosi dengan mudah dilingkungan air dan atmosfer. Adapun serangan pada logam tersebut umumnya akibat fenomena elektrokimia. Terdapat 115 unsur dan 80% diantaranya adalah logam, semua unsur logam digunakan di industri untuk membuat peralatan pabrik, hal ini disebabkan sifat mekanik material logam lebih baik daripada material bukan logam. Corrosion is defined as the breakdown of materials through chemical reactions or accidental electrochemistry that begins on its surface. This definition includes metal and non-metal materials, the term corrosion is generally used for indicates damage to metal materials. Nonmetallic materials experience corrosion only by certain chemicals under special conditions and is generally resistant against mild corrosive media such as water and atmosphere. These metals exist which has resistance to water and atmosphere but some metals These can be corroded easily in water and atmospheric environments. As for Attacks on these metals are generally due to electrochemical phenomena. There is 115 elements and 80% of them are metals, all metal elements are used in industry to make factory equipment, this is due to mechanical properties Metal materials are better than non-metal materials.
