Hubungan antara Body Image dengan Kepercayaan Diri pada Mahasiswi Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Medan Area

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara body image dengan kepercayaan diri pada mahasiswi Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Medan Area. Kepercayaan diri adalah keyakinan seseorang akan kemampuan yang dimilikinya. Banyak faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kepercayaan diri seseorang, salah satunya bagaimana individu dapat mempersepsikan penampilan fisiknya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara body image dengan kepercayaan diri pada remaja akhir. Mahasiswi psikologi hendaknya kepercayaan diri yang tinggi sebagai bekal dalam menjalin komunikasi dengan lingkungan sekitar. Kepercayaan diri merupakan aspek kepribadian manusia yang penting sebagai sarana untuk mengaktualisasikan potensi yang dimiliki. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif korelasional. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 252 siswi dengan sampel 60 siswi diperoleh melalui teknik random sampling.Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan skala body image dan skala kepercayaan diri. Teknik analisis data menggunakan korelasi product momment. Hasil penelitian antara body image dan kepercayaan diri terdapat hubungan yang positif dan sangat signifikan, hal ini dibuktikan dengan analasis data diperoleh nilai r hitung = 0,961 dan p= 0,000 (p < 0,05), kesimpulan penelitian adalah terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara body image dengan kepercayaan diri. This study aims to determine the correlation between body image and selfconfidence in female students of the Faculty of Psychology, Medan Area University. Selfconfidence is a person's belief in their abilities. Many factors can affect a person's selfconfidence, one of which is how individuals can perceive their physical appearance. When individuals are satisfied with their physical condition, they will have high selfconfidence, and vice versa. Psychology students should have high self-confidence as a provision in establishing communication with the surrounding environment. Selfconfidence is an important aspect of human personality as a means to actualize their potential.The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between body image and self-confidence in late adolescents. This research is a descriptive quantitative correlational research. The study population amounted to 252 female students with a sample of 60 female students obtained through random sampling technique.Data collection techniques using body image scale and self-confidence scale. Data analysis techniques using product momment correlation. The results of the study between body image and self-confidence there is a positive and very significant correlation, this is evidenced by data analysis obtained r value = 0.961 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), the conclusion of the study is that there is a significant correlation between body image and self-confidence.
