This study aims to look at the correlation between social support and student learning motivation in the XI class of Light Vehicle Engineering major at SMK YAPIM Simpang Kawat. This research was conducted through a quantitative approach with the Pearson product moment correlation method with the help of SPSS. The population in this study were class XI students majoring in Light Vehicle Engineering at YAPIM Simpang Kawat Vocational High School with a sample of 80 students. The sampling technique used total sampling where the entire population was sampled in this study. Data collection was carried out through a scale technique on a social support scale measuring instrument with a learning motivation scale. Data analysis used the assumption test, namely the normality test and linearity test and hypothesis testing using the product moment correlation. The results of the study show that there is a significant correlation between social support and positive learning motivation. This is based on the Pearson correlation value of 0.357 and the sig. 0.001. The hypothetical mean obtained from 26 items of social support is 65 and the average empirical value is 79.60. While the hypothetical mean obtained from the 29 items of motivation to learn is 72.5 and the average empirical value is 82.78. Social support makes an effective contribution to learning motivation by 12.8% and the rest is influenced by other factors not discussed in this study. |
